Drive A White Jeep Grand Cherokee? You're Wanted As Possible Suspect In Hit-And-Run

The California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee after a hit-and-run that occurred on U.S. Highway 101 Monday night, officers said.

Authorities received reports of a driver going the wrong way on Highway 101 near Windsor at 8:31 p.m. Monday.

According to CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat, the driver was weaving all over the road and ran over a fence before colliding with another vehicle.

After that, the driver began heading south in the southbound lanes of the highway and proceeded to the central Windsor area before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot, according to Sloat.

“We have the car and the registration, we just don’t know who was driving,” Sloat said.

The victim in the hit-and-run collision was not injured, according to Sloat.

Additional details about the crash were not immediately available as of late this morning. Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies were called in to assist during the incident, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha.
