The inaugural Herb Bundesen Memorial Lecture will be held at the United Church of Christ Petaluma on Friday evening, November 18, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. The lecture will be given by internationally known author Robin R. Meyers, who will speak on “How I Became a Heretic with Help from Jesus.” The lecture is open to the public; tickets are available at UCC Petaluma, 707-763-2454 or through brownpapertickets.com.
Dr. Meyers is the author of five books (number six in press), including Saving Jesus From The Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus, endorsed by Desmond Tutu, Bill Moyers, Bishop John Shelby Spong, Dr. Fred B. Craddock, and Diana Butler Bass. It is about recovering the authentic message of the historical Jesus.
Dr. Meyers is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, a tenured professor in the philosophy department at Oklahoma City University, a syndicated columnist, and an award- winning commentator for National Public Radio. He has been the Senior Minister of Mayflower Congregational UCC church of Oklahoma City since 1985.
