Poetry Slam Jam for Teens

A fun and energetic class on writing poetry and speaking it aloud. We will begin with some writing games, and then we'll get to work writing new poems. We'll watch a few performance poets and slam poets on YouTube, and then it'll be your turn to bring your poetry alive. We'll experiment with performance styles - from quiet reading, to slam performance with a microphone, to adding some simple music. If enough poets are interested, we can schedule a later field trip to a local poetry slam. Instructor Patti Trimble has performed poetry at hundreds of venues, and she's a supportive and enthusiastic teacher. Let your poetic genius speak! And, if you're a musician, bring your own instrument.
