"Portraiture" at Pelican Art Gallery

Portraiture paintings were some of the first forms of documentation.  From royalty to the everyday family, portraits provide a cherished history of family.  A portrait can be one of the most probing forms of art, exploring mood and character.  The Pelican Art Gallery presents "Portraiture" an exploration of paintings and drawings that capture the essence of their subject.  Traditional portraiture would be a person or group of people sitting in a formal composition for the artist to seize.   Expand portraits from simply humans to pets, homes and vehicles to further the intrigue of artistic license.  The Masters of Today at the Pelican Art Gallery share a spectrum of portrait paintings and drawings that will engage and entertain.  Portraiture will be on display from July 5th through September 6th, 2011 with the Art Walk on Saturday, August 13th  from 4 - 7 pm.
