Walk MS 2012

“Walk MS” is the rallying point of the MS movement, a community coming together to raise funds and celebrate hope for a world free of multiple sclerosis.

The National MS Society helps people affected by Multiple Sclerosis by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education and providing programs and services that help people with MS. The National MS Society has several special events held across the country, and the largest event is “Walk MS”.

“Walk MS” is a fundraising event that was established in 1989 as the Society’s only simultaneous national fundraising event and key awareness building weekend. The first year “Walk MS” drew 42,000 participants at 42 sites to raise $4 million. Since then, “Walk MS” has grown to attract over 300,000 walkers in nearly 600 locations covering all 50 states, and in 2011 raised over $48 million for the MS cause. Locally, in the Northern California area, there are 12 walk sites, including Santa Rosa on April 22nd at 9:00 am in Howarth Park (registration is at 8:00 am).
