Fatal Crash Involving Cal Fire Vehicle Closes Lakeville Highway
The CHP office in Santa Rosa confirmed there was a fatality in a crash involving a Cal Fire Chevy Tahoe and a Jeep.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — One person was killed in a head-on collision Friday afternoon southeast of Petaluma on Lakeville Highway near Old Lakeville Road No. 1. The crash was reported at 2:38 p.m. just south of state Highway 116 and involved a Cal Fire vehicle — a white Chevy Tahoe — and a white Jeep SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Early reports from the scene indicated a Cal Fire chief may have been killed in the crash; the CHP now reports that according to Cal Fire representatives at the scene, the person who died was not in the Cal Fire vehicle.
A sig-alert was issued at 3:19 p.m. Friday, with northbound Lakeville Highway closed from state Highway 37, according to CHP reports.

Marin CHP units were requested at SR-37 to block access to Lakeville Highway, with the road closure expected to be "long-term."
