Rollover Crash On Highway 101 Kills Woman

Two passengers were thrown from the vehicle, while the driver was still inside with major injuries.

PETALUMA, CA — One woman was killed, and two others were seriously injured when a BMW rolled over on southbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of Petaluma Boulevard South, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the solo vehicle crash at about 8:43 p.m. on Wednesday.

They found the BMW off the roadway. Two passengers had been ejected from the vehicle, while the driver was still inside with major injuries.

Investigators said, based on the investigation so far, they believe the BMW was traveling southbound when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control. The car then veered to the right off the roadway and overturned.

One female passenger died at the scene.

The driver and another adult female passenger were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

Investigators said speed and wet roadway conditions likely contributed to the crash, which CHP is still investigating.
