Fire, Explosion At Petaluma Airport Destroy Hangar, Small Plane
A fire and explosion destroyed a hangar, small private plane and classic car, the Petaluma Fire Department said.

PETALUMA, CA - Fire crews were able to contain a small fire inside a hanger at the Petaluma Municipal Airport Monday, fire officials said. The fire destroyed a hanger, small private plane and classic Corvette.

Crews responded to a report of a possible explosion at a private airport hangar near the airport at 601 Sky Ranch Drive, officials told KTVU News.

Officials from the Petaluma Fire Department told KTVU that they were able to contain the fire to that hangar before it spread to others. The fire was knocked down by 11:58 a.m., according to Fire Chief Jeff Schach. No injuries were reported.
The fire started after the owner of a Piper Cub aircraft completed a flight, stored the plane and walked out of the hangar, according to Bay City News.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
