All four residents of the home made it out safely and were not injured, the Petaluma Fire Department said.
PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma home was gutted by a fire Thursday night but all the residents made it safely outside without injury, according to the Petaluma Fire Department.
Crews with the Petaluma and Rancho Adobe fire departments were dispatched at 9:52 p.m. Thursday to the residential structure fire in the 1500 block of Trellis Lane — near South McDowell Boulevard and Casa Grande Road— Petaluma FD Battalion Chief Kevin Weaver said in a news release.
The first firefighters to arrive on the scene were met with heavy fire coming from the front and back of the structure.

"One of the occupants of the residence met the first arriving company officer in front of the home to advise that all people were out of the house," Weaver said. "Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire to the house of origin, and to search the residence ensuring all occupants had exited."
Paramedics assessed the four residents of the home for any possible injuries but they had no complaints, nor were any first responders injured.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Friday morning by the Petaluma Fire Prevention Bureau.
In addition to Rancho Adobe FD, North Bay Fire and Cal Fire also assisted with the incident.
"The Petaluma Fire Department wishes to thank our surrounding partners for their assistance at the incident and for providing station coverage to ensure the city was protected," Weaver said. "The Petaluma Fire Department would like to take this time to remind our citizens to always know two ways out in case of fire or an emergency and to ensure there are working smoke detectors in the home."
