Free Social Media and On-Line Library Resources Workshop January 21

Presented by Petaluma Library and AAUW Petaluma Branch

January 2, 2017, Petaluma, CA – The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Petaluma Branch and the Petaluma Library will be presenting a community workshop on Social Media and On-Line Library Resources on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. – Noon at the Petaluma Library, 100 Fairgrounds Dr., Petaluma. There is no charge to attend, parking is free, and the public is invited.

This workshop is designed for members of the community who want to learn about current Social Media platforms and about how to borrow eBooks and access other free library resources online using a Petaluma Library card.

The first portion of the program will be presented by Vera Nicol, Petaluma Adult School Learning Center Coordinator and Adult School instructor in computer programs. Covered platforms will include Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Reddit, and Nextdoor, as well as Facebook.

The second part of the workshop will be presented by Jennifer Bishop, Adult Librarian at the Petaluma Library. It will include a brief overview of free on-line library resources, including Hoopla, E-books, downloadable audiobooks, a new streaming magazine service called Zinio, as well as other digital resources.

“We are very pleased to present this information-packed program in partnership with the Petaluma Library,” said Patricia Souza, AAUW Petaluma Director of Programs. “This program provides a great opportunity to start off the New Year being more comfortable with social media AND learning about many free on-line resources at our local library that many of us will be learning about for the first time.”
