Giant Yard Sale, Footrace and the Doll Project All Happening This Weekend

On Friday, catch author Christopher Moore, as he discusses his new work "Sacre Bleu: A Comedy D'Art" at Copperfield’s Books.

In this art world thriller, Lucien Lessard, a baker-turned-painter and bon vivant Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, vow to discover the truth behind the untimely death of their friend Vincent van Gogh. The quest leads them on a surreal odyssey and brothel-crawl deep into the art world of late-nineteenth-century Paris. Friday 7pm.

Love yard sales? More than 40 families living at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Two Rock are holding a giant yard sale this weekend complete with RVs, boats, cars, trucks, furniture, household items and more.

Yard sale will be held both Saturday and Sunday 8am-3pm. 599 Tomales Rd.

On Sunday, grab the kids and head to McNear Elementary, which is hosting the Doll Project, a day of artistic expression and celebration. For $15 kids will make a doll using every day items like buttons, string, straw that they can take home. (Recommended for children in kindergarten to 6th grade). All proceeds go to the Ella Bisbee Art Studio at the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County.

Also on Sunday, local business Athleta puts on the Eighth Annual Petaluma Footrace, a family friendly three or five mile race that raises money for the Casa Grande High School track. Registration is open until the day of the race that will take runners from the marina through Alman Marsh and Shollenberger Park. $25. Starts at 9am.
