Literary Teas, Dinners Seek to Bring Women Together Over Shared Love of Literature
Copperfield's kicking off fall tea and dinner series with literary tea on Saturday, Sept. 15

A cup of tea can be just the right touch when you’re wrapped up in a good book.
But listening to writers discuss their works in person can be equally delicious.
Starting September 15, Copperfield’s is teaming up with on Western Avenue to host literary high teas featuring women writers who will read from and discuss their books.

Kicking off the series is tea with Tatjana Soli, author of "The Forgetting Tree", a novel about a California ranching family that has been described as “haunting, tough, triumphant and profound.” The novel explores the intimate ties we have to one another, the deepest fears we keep to ourselves, and the calling of the land that ties us together
In October, Joanne Harris, author of "Chocolat," will pay Petaluma a visit to discuss her new novel “Peaches for Father Francis.” The work features a protagonist who receives a letter from beyond the grave and has no choice but to return to her past. The October 13 event starts at 6pm.

In November, the featured author is Laurie King, who penned “Garment of Shadows," the latest in her series about Sherlock Holmes's wife Mary Russell. In this title, the investigative couple is separated by a shocking circumstance in a perilous part of the world, each racing against time to prevent an explosive catastrophe that could clothe them both in shrouds.
In addition to the literary teas, Copperfield’s is also hosting “Debut Dinners” with authors at restaurants around Sonoma County. The first literary dinner in Petaluma will be held at on October 12 and feature Kathleen Alcott, who recently penned "The Dangers of Proximal Alphabets", set in Petaluma where Alcott grew up.
