Maggie Fishman Announces Run for Santa Rosa Junior College Board

"My love of learning and my career in education were born there," said the retired teacher, once a SRJC student, herself.

Election news from the office of candidate Maggie Fishman:

Maggie Fishman, of Penngrove, filed her papers to run for the Santa Rosa Junior College
Board of Trustees for the Second District, representing Penngrove, Petaluma, and parts of
Marin County.

The papers were filed with the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters on August 7.

“SRJC was my first college,” said Fishman a retired teacher. “My love of learning and my
career in education were born there. The JC is a vital link between the students that I taught
and the skills they need to find productive jobs and to enter four-year colleges.”

“It is critical that this vital and dynamic community resource keep relevant and at the
cutting edge.”

Steve Ellison, a retired Petaluma High School educator and football coach stated, “I have
known Maggie Fishman as an educator, a parent and as a tireless volunteer for many
organizations in Petaluma. She is the right person to represent us on the SRJC Board.”

Fishman has been actively invested in the Petaluma/Penngrove community for the last
30 years and longer in the county.

Most recently, Fishman served as a member of the board and as chair of Mentor Me Petaluma.

She is currently a member of the Friends of the Petaluma Campus Trust for SRJC.

“Being a voice for South County on the SRJC Board of Trustees would be a great honor, said Fishman.

Fishman has been endorsed by Congressman Jared Huffman, and Congressman Mike
Thompson, also by a majority of the Petaluma City Council, Mayor David Glass, Vice Mayor
Gabe Kearney, and Council members Kathy Miller, Mike Healy and Teresa Barrett.
