Man, 18, Arrested For Concealed Gun After Citizen Tip To Police

The suspect was in a red truck when stopped near Leghorn Park in Petaluma, officials said.

PETALUMA, CA – An 18-year-old Petaluma resident, Eduardo Godinez-Mendoza, was arrested Friday night for alleged possession of a concealed weapon following a citizen's tip to police, authorities said.

After receiving a report of individuals drinking alcohol in a red Nissan truck, one reportedly armed with a gun, officers at 10:40 p.m. pulled over a vehicle matching the description near Leghorn Park, the Petaluma Police Department said today.

The three occupants, all 18, were questioned, and an open alcohol container was found inside the truck, along with a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver, the department said.

The firearm was near where Godinez-Mendoza was seated, and his identification was inside the bag with the gun, police said.

The department thanked the informant "for providing timely information, which ultimately resulted in seizing an unlawful firearm off the street."
