Breaking: Police allege the 41-year-old drove drunk to take his 7-year-old son to a sporting event.

PETALUMA, CA -- Police arrested a man Sunday in Petaluma who was allegedly found passed out drunk behind the wheel of his car in the parking lot of Casa Grande High School, where police say he had driven his 7-year-old son.

Officers were dispatched to parking lot just after 12:45 p.m. and contacted the man, whom they identified as 41-year-old Petaluma resident Brian Hilleshiem, according to Petaluma police Sgt. Lance Novello.

"Petaluma Fire Department personnel arrived first and smelled the odor of an alcoholic type beverage from Hilleshiem’s general presence," Novello said.

Officers administered field sobriety tests, allegedly revealing Hilleshiem had a preliminary blood alcohol content of .16 -- twice the California legal limit of .08 percent, according to the sergeant.

"The investigation revealed he drove his 7-year-old son to a sporting event at the school after drinking," Novello said.
