Man Reported Missing In Russian River In Sonoma County

Authorities are searching for a man who went missing as he swam in the Russian River on Monday evening.

At 8:05 p.m., fire officials received a report of the missing person at Sunset Beach in unincorporated Sonoma County, according to Forestville Fire Capt. Patrick Mills.

The man’s family had looked for him when he didn’t return from swimming, but did not find him, then contacted authorities to report him missing, Mills said. As of this morning, fire officials said they hadn’t confirmed the identity of the man.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Forestville Fire Protection District with the search, according to Mills.
