Aww, From Petaluma: Meet Ninja, Houdini, Snowball, and Chance

They had us at "Meow."

A few weeks ago we received a concerned call from Stefani, the Starbucks Manager here at The Plaza North. She said that she could have sworn that she heard meowing from behind the store. We sent out several maintenance staff to look for the source - they couldn’t see or hear anything. We continued to send out people over the next few days and asked Starbucks to be in touch if they heard or saw anything.

On Friday - Bingo! Steve and Diana went into one of the storage sheds behind Starbucks and found four unattended, crying kittens. They were able to catch all of them.

Steve and Diana brought the kittens into Starbucks, where, by strange coincidence, several staff members of the Milo Foundation, a non-profit Point Richmond animal shelter, were having coffee. They immediately helped with getting the kittens situation, but not before everyone in Starbucks had an opportunity to ooh, ahh, and cuddle. Before the Milo Foundation folks had left the building with the newborns, they had already been adopted out to four people who were there in Starbucks. They will come and get their kitties from Milo when the kittens are a little older and ready to leave the shelter.

The kittens were named: Ninja (the black one), Snowball (the white one), Chance (the grey one) and Houdini (the calico one). Houdini got his name because he showed a remarkable ability to disappear at will while Steve was trying to catch him.

Thanks to the alert staff at Starbucks, to Steve and Diana, to the Milo Foundation and to all the adoptive parents-to-be!
