Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With Big Rig On Lakeville Highway

The Harley-Davidson rider died at the scene of the collision near Petaluma, the California Highway Patrol said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist died in a crash with a big rig Friday near Petaluma, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers responded at 11:05 a.m. Friday to Lakeville Highway at Stage Gulch Road where a Harley Davidson and semi-truck collided.

approaching the intersection and posted stop sign at Lakeville Highway," CHP Officer David deRutte said.

CHP's investigation indicates the big rig was traveling on northbound Lakeville Highway when the motorcyclist slowed at the stop sign but failed to stop. The motorcyclist continued onto northbound Lakeville Highway and into the side of the big rig.

"The male motorcyclist immediately sustained fatal injuries," deRutte said.

His name was being withheld until his next of kin were properly notified by the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

The CHP asked anyone with information about the fatal incident to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
