The $41 million project includes reconstructing the Highway 101 interchange in Petaluma, including all ramps, upgrading Old Redwood Highway and Petaluma Boulevard North and providing sound walls. It also will include
a bicycle path and pedestrian crosswalk in each direction, Caltrans spokesman Allyn Amsk said.

The on-and off-ramps at the Old Redwood Highway interchange will be widened from one lane to two and ramp metering will be installed.

The project is being financed with money from Petaluma, Sonoma County Measure M tax revenue and state proposition 1B, Amsk said. The interchange improvement project will be completed by the summer of 2015.

During construction, northbound and southbound traffic will be diverted onto Old Redwood Highway, North McDowell Boulevard and Redwood Way.
