Parking Regulations In Petaluma: City Seeks Input With Survey

The city has fielded numerous requests about its 72-hour parking ordinance and the absence of parking regulations for RVs and trailers.

PETALUMA, CA — The city of Petaluma is seeking the community's input through a survey after fielding numerous requests from community members about making changes to the city's parking regulations and ordinances.

Specifically, there have been numerous requests related to the city's current 72-hour parking regulation and the absence of any additional parking restrictions on recreational vehicles and trailers.

The current parking ordinance states that vehicles will be considered abandoned and are subject to enforcement if left in the same location for more than 72 consecutive hours. To comply with the ordinance a vehicle must be moved at least a half-mile every 72 hours if not sooner.

According to city officials, some people would like to see current regulations made more restrictive, while others have requested regulations be less restrictive.

City officials said the online survey is a first step in engaging the broader community to evaluate whether any modifications to the current parking ordinance should be proposed to the City Council.
