Pedestrian Struck, Dragged 20 Feet By Transit Bus In Petaluma

PETALUMA, CA – A woman was hit by a bus while crossing the street in Petaluma this morning, police said today.
The 46-year-old woman was crossing North McDowell Boulevard near East Madison Street at 10:45 a.m., headed toward the Plaza North Shopping Center, police said.
She was in the crosswalk when she was hit by a Petaluma Transit bus making a left turn onto North McDowell Boulevard. The woman was dragged about 20 feet before the bus stopped, police said.

Arriving officers found the woman trapped under the bus and it had to be lifted to get her out. She was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with injuries to her left arm and head.
Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The bus driver, a 77-year-old Petaluma woman, said she saw the pedestrian out of the corner of her eye as she was making the turn but was unable to stop in time.
