Pedestrians Robbed At Gunpoint In Downtown Petaluma: Police

BREAKING: According to Petaluma police, two suspects -- one armed with a handgun -- took a purse and wallet from the victims.

PETALUMA, CA -- Two pedestrians reported being robbed at gunpoint Monday night in downtown Petaluma, police said. At about 9:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Liberty, where the victims told police that they had just been robbed by two men in an SUV, according to a Petaluma Police Department news release.

The victims told officers that as they were walking along the street, a gray or silver SUV stopped in the roadway next to them. The male driver then reportedly got out the vehicle and approached the pedestrians while holding a black-and-silver semi-automatic handgun, police said.

A second male got out of the front passenger side of the vehicle and approached the pedestrians; together the two suspects grabbed a purse and wallet from the victims, then got back into their vehicle and sped off, turning westbound onto Western Avenue, police said.
