Petaluma Carjacking Victim Threatened, Thrown To Ground: Police

BREAKING: Police say the carjacking occurred early Thursday near an elementary school.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Petaluma police are searching for a man who carjacked a vehicle near an elementary school early this morning. A woman was sitting in her gold 1997 Toyota Avalon at McKinley
Elementary School on Ellis Street around 5 a.m. Thursday when a black man between 30 and 40 years old demanded the keys to her car, police said.

When the man acted as if he had a gun, the woman got out of the car and was thrown to the ground, police said. The suspect fled in the Toyota with a black front bumper and California license plate 6GON161, police said.

Anyone who sees the stolen vehicle is asked to call Petaluma police at 707-778-4372.
