PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Fire Department knocked down a house fire in fewer than 15 minutes Saturday night, which still didn't prevent the house from being unhabitable.

Firefighters were called at 7:44 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Wood Sorrel Drive. Arriving within five minutes, firefighters found smoke coming from the structure's garage and attic spaces, prompting the call to be upgraded to a "working structure" fire.

Firefighters from Rancho Adobe Fire, Sonoma Valley Fire, and Goldridge Fire District also responded.

The resident evacuated with the two other people home at the time. No injuries were reported.

The City of Petaluma Building Department placed a "red tag" on the residence, determining it was not habitable. Residents reportedly stayed with nearby family.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
