Petaluma Homicide: Police Urge North Bay Residents To Come Forward With Information

BREAKING: The fatal stabbing occurred early Sunday as downtown Petaluma bars and nightclubs were closing for the night, police said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Petaluma Police Department expanded its search for information in a homicide investigation this week to members of the public across the North Bay area. A Windsor man was fatally stabbed early Sunday in downtown Petaluma, and investigators are seeking witnesses, video and or any other pertinent information, according to Petaluma police Detective Walt Spiller.

At 1:43 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Kentucky Street to the Golden Concourse — a pedestrian walkway between Kentucky and Keller streets — where they found two people stabbed.

One was treated at the scene, while the other was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Detectives did not immediately know if Nunez-Castro and the suspect knew each other.

Police believe that the suspect may have fled on foot to the Keller Street parking garage and gotten into a car there.

The incident occurred as many of the downtown nightclubs and bars were closing for the night, police said.

"The Petaluma Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance throughout the North Bay Area," Spiller said.
