Petaluma Man Arrested In Child Porn Investigation: Sheriff's Office

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Petaluma man was arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography following a two-month effort by detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office to track down a person believed to be responsible for sharing child pornography on the Internet from Sonoma County, a sheriff's lieutenant said Thursday.

The investigation culminated Sept. 21 when detectives served a search warrant at a residence on English Street in Petaluma and arrested 28-year-old Jory Rock, the sole occupant of the home, Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Duke stated in a news release.

Rock was detained as detectives seized multiple computers, digital media and external hard drives, Duke said.

Upon conducting a forensic examination of Rock's computer, detectives "discovered multiple images and videos depicting child pornography," the lieutenant said.

Rock was interviewed, then taken into custody without incident and booked into Sonoma County Jail on $30,000 bail.

Duke said additional charges may be filed against Rock as further forensic examination of the alleged evidence against him is conducted.

The investigation into Rock stemmed from the Sonoma County sheriff's affiliation with the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force — or SVICAC — which has an 11-county responsibility within the greater Bay Area region.
