Petaluma Man Killed In US 101 Crash Near Novato: CHP

The fatal motorcycle crash was reported just after 6:30 a.m. Monday on southbound U.S. Highway 101 south of San Antonio Road.

NORTH BAY, CA — A Petaluma man died in a motorcycle crash Monday morning on U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County, authorities said.

The fatal crash was reported just after 6:30 a.m. near Novato on southbound U.S. 101 south of San Antonio Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 46-year-old man was splitting lanes when traffic ahead suddenly slowed and he rear-ended a van, then spun around and hit a truck in the slow lane, the CHP said.

The man, whose name was not released, was thrown from the motorcycle, according to the CHP.

Both southbound lanes were blocked until 9 a.m. as a result of the fatal incident near Olompali State Historic Park.
