Petaluma Police Arrest Napa Man Who Slipped Away

A driver tries to slip away on foot—until witnesses and an off-duty officer help police track him down.

PETALUMA, CA — A Napa man suspected of trying to slip away from police, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Petaluma after witnesses reported a vehicle swerving and striking a curb.

According to the Petaluma Police Department, officers responded around 5:29 p.m. Sunday near South McDowell Boulevard and Anna Way.

An onlooker reported a dark-colored GMC Acadia hitting a curb and center median, Petaluma police said.

When officers arrived, they found the GMC empty. The driver had abandoned the vehicle. Police found the man on Evergreen Lane with information from a witness and an off-duty officer.

Police identified the driver as a 31-year-old Napa resident. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and taken to the Sonoma County jail.
