The victim was stabbed multiple times following an argument over an electronic tablet, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man remained behind bars Friday following his arrest earlier this week in connection with a stabbing at Steamer Landing Park.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 6:20 p.m. Sunday about the stabbing and found the victim conscious and alert but suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to Petaluma police Lt. Nick McGowan.

"As officers responded to the scene, the involved suspect fled the scene toward downtown Petaluma with the knife," McGowan said.

Around 6:20 p.m., the unknown person came back to Steamer Landing Park accompanied by 30-year-old Angel Recinos-Guevara.

"Recinos-Guevara stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso with a fixed-blade kitchen knife," McGowan said.

Immediately after the stabbing, Recinos-Guevara ran toward the downtown area.

The following day, Recinos-Guevara was arrested near Walnut Park in downtown Petaluma.

Recinos-Guevara was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of attempted murder. As of Friday, jail records showed he remained in custody with his bail set at $80,000.
