Police Arrest Suspected DUI Driver Who Crashed Into Parked Vehicle

The 21-year-old driver had objective signs of intoxication, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police arrested a 21-year-old driver they suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing into a parked vehicle early Sunday morning.

At around 3:52 a.m. Sunday, the Petaluma Police Department received calls from residents of the 900 block of South McDowell Boulevard regarding a vehicle collision.

Witnesses told officers that a silver BMW had driven into the front yard of a residence and collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle that was in the driveway.

Officers arrived on scene and found the BMW along with a male driver and female passenger, who were both uninjured.

The 21-year-old driver from Petaluma appeared to have been traveling southbound on S McDowell Blvd and attempted turn left onto eastbound Covey Way.

However, the driver was unable to safely navigate the turn which resulted in the vehicle leaving the roadway and colliding into a parked vehicle, police said.

Officers observed that the driver had objective signs of intoxication and conducted a DUI investigation. Upon completion of the DUI investigation, police determined he was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

The driver was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, police said.
