Redleg Husky is an Americana/folk band from Boone, NC that recalls the sounds of a long drive, a well-worn record, and boots on a dusty floor. Formed in 2012 by Misa Giroux and Tim McWilliams, their live performances have continued to captivate audiences throughout the Southeast, leading to features on the Jonesborough Yarn Exchange, WNCW’s “Local Color,” WMMT Mountain Community Radio, WDVX’s “Blue Plate Special,” and a performance at the 2014 Sirens on the Mountain MusicFestival.
Their first full-length studio album, Carolina (released March 4th, 2014), has been called,”an album of exceptional beauty… It’s honest, restrained in the right places, and joyfully exuberant everywhere else” (Adobe & Teardrops) as “The strength of their songwriting echoes through the songs on their new album… each one tells a tale that lives in today just as well as reflecting yesterday.” (FolkWords)

Tim McWilliams cites Doc Watson, Muddy Waters, and Stevie Ray Vaughan as major influences, while Misa Giroux plays and writes songs in the styles of Gillian Welch and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Their eclectic musical backgrounds and Master’s degrees in Appalachian Music have led them to their unique combination of boot stompin’ folk music with soul.
