Sample Local Wine, Hear Poetry and Relive American History This Weekend

Starting Friday, relive American history not through generals and presidents, but from the ground up, through union leaders, activists and abolitionists who fought for a more just country.
is the latest production of Petaluma Readers’ Theater and is based on Howard Zinn’s "Voices of a People’s History of the United States." It features local actors reading historic speeches, letters, poems and songs of people like Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, Samuel Clemens, and Helen Keller, as well as contemporary voices.
The show runs through January 28 and tickets are $12.

On Saturday, learn about local wine at the Petaluma Gap Winegrowers Alliance’s winter soiree. The event starts at 6:30pm with hors d’oeuvres and drinks at the Mystic, followed by dancing.
Admission is $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes wine tasting, food, live music and one year's membership to the PGWA.

There's something special about reading poetry or listening to it on a rainy day. On Sunday, starting at 2pm, local poets Mike Tuggle, Bart Schneider and Terry Ehret will discuss their work and read excerpts at a free event at Copperfield’s Books.
