Search Underway for Missing Motorcyclist on Sonoma Coast

A Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew is searching this morning for a motorcycle rider on state Highway 1 on the Sonoma Coast.

A motorcycle, gloves, helmet and jacket were found on the shoulder of northbound Highway 1 near Kruse Ranch Road near Salt Point State Park around 5:10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said the rider might have suffered a head injury.

They are checking with area hospitals to see if someone transported the rider there.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Pete Quartarolo said the Henry-1 helicopter crew was departing around 9:15 a.m.
