The tragic accident was this morning east of Schellville.

A Petaluma husband and wife were killed in a head-on crash on state Highway 121 east of Schellville in Sonoma County this morning, California Highway Patrol and county sheriff’s officials said.

The crash was reported around 9:10 a.m. and closed both directions of Highway 121 between Napa and Ramal roads until 1 p.m., according to the CHP. CHP officials said the male driver of a white Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south on Highway 121 south of Napa Road, where the road curves to the left, when he drifted onto the dirt right shoulder of the road.

The driver overcorrected and crossed into the northbound lane, striking a silver Ford Fusion and killing the Ford’s two occupants, according to the CHP.
