Sonoma Co. Man, Novato Woman Arrested After Hwy 101, Foot Chase

The pair were found hiding on a restaurant roof, law enforcement reported.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested two people on outstanding warrants after a vehicle pursuit on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Rosa this morning, a CHP officer said.

The driver of a 2001 Chevrolet truck with expired registration failed to pull over for a CHP officer around 8:40 a.m. near Hearn Avenue, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

After a short pursuit, the truck hit a wall as it took the Baker Avenue off-ramp and the male driver and female passenger ran from the scene, Sloat said. Santa Rosa police joined the search for the truck’s occupants, who were found on the roof of a Mexican restaurant near the Denny’s restaurant on Santa Rosa Avenue, Sloat said.

Casandra Rawls, 28, of Novato, also suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of a no bail warrant in Marin County.

They were treated at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and will be booked into Sonoma County Jail on the warrants and on suspicion of resisting or delaying officers, Sloat said.
