Sonoma County Man Brandishes Replica Gun At Clerk: Cops

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A Sonoma man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a replica gun at a store clerk Sunday in the unincorporated Sonoma County community of Boyes Hot Springs, sheriff's officials said today. Briant Perez Perez, 26, allegedly walked into La Favorita Carniceria at 17484 state Highway 12 at about 9:40 a.m. and tried to cash a check.

The store clerk saw that the check was made out to a business and refused to cash it.

Sheriff's officials said Perez Perez got upset and as he left the store he pointed what appeared to be a real gun at the clerk and pulled the trigger several times. He then left the store.

Sheriff's officials said deputies looked at surveillance video of the event and got an image of Perez Perez.

Deputies discovered that the check Perez Perez allegedly presented to the store clerk was made out to Wine Country Tires and a deputy spotted a business nearby with that name.

Deputies went inside and were greeted by Perez Perez, who immediately cooperated with them and gave them the check.

Sheriff's officials said deputies found a replica gun at Perez Perez's home, which was nearby.

Perez Perez was booked into the county jail on suspicion of brandishing a replica gun and violating his probation. Perez Perez is out of jail on $1,000 bail.
