SRJC Launches New Personal Trainer Certificate Program
Training the next generation of group exercise instructors and wellness coaches

If you've ever wanted to become a personal trainer, group exercise instructor or wellness coach, check out a brand new certificate program that's being launched this summer at the Petaluma campus of the Santa Rosa Junior College.
Demand for health and nutrition specialists is growing rapidly and is projected to grow by 27 percent by 2018, according to the California Employment Development Department.
There is also a lot of interest for the program among students, with kinesiology, the study of human movement, the seventh most popular major at California State University campuses, according to SRJC instructor Tara Jacobson.

Following completion of the program--which costs about $3,000-- students will be prepared for nationally recognized certification exams, such as the American College of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.
Registration for summer classes is ongoing and classes start June 11. Fall registration begins July 16, with classes starting August 20. For more information about the program, click here.
