Storm Drops Pea-Sized Hail In North Bay

Hail was reported in several Sonoma County locations, including Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Rohnert Park.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Pea-sized hail was spotted Monday in some pockets of the North Bay from a storm that's moving through the region, forecasters said.

The hail was reported about noon in Sonoma County locations, including Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and Rohnert Park, the National Weather Service said.

The Santa Rosa Fire Department posted a video showing the hail falling.

A special weather statement was issued earlier Monday for Sebastopol, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park as the storm moved through the region. The weather statement warned of wind and hail, and said to seek shelter in a sturdy cover.

There was a 20-30 percent chance of more hail along with showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon in North Bay.

The storm was expected to move next to the East Bay and bring small amounts of rain and hail, forecasters said, but not enough moisture to make a dent in the region's ongoing drought.
