Subway Robber Demanded More Than Extra Pickles

Petaluma and Rohnert Park authorities have released a photo of a man who allegedly robbed Subway sandwich stores in both cities Wednesday.

PETALUMA/ROHNERT PARK - Petaluma and Rohnert Park authorities have released a photo of a man who allegedly robbed Subway sandwich stores in both cities Wednesday night.

The Hispanic male pulled a knife on an employee of the Petaluma store at 401 Kenilworth Drive and demanded money around 8:10 p.m., according to police.

The employee refused and the suspect grabbed money that the employee had removed from a tip jar and fled the business. The employee saw what appeared to be the handle of a firearm partially concealed in the robber's pants pocket, police said.

The vehicle that might be related to the robbery is a light colored, two-door compact, possibly a Honda Civic or Acura Integra with black rims, Rohnert Park public safety officials said.

Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officials said a man that meets the description of the Petaluma store suspect also robbed the Subway shop at 6585 Commerce Blvd. around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect asked a store employee questions about the menu, walked out of the store as customers entered, then returned and bought a soda, according to the department.

The suspect demanded the employee place all the money in the register into the empty soda cup and then ran east on Hunter Drive, police said.

The suspect in the robberies is described as a man between 20 and 25 years old who is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build.

He was wearing glasses, a gray and red San Francisco 49ers cap, a plaid short-sleeved button-up shirt, blue jeans and red shoes.
