Suspected Carjacking At Petaluma Intersection Saturday Afternoon

Police arrested a man suspected of trying to break into a car at an intersection Saturday afternoon.

PETALUMA, CA — A Guerneville man suspected of trying to break into a car while stopped in traffic on a busy Petaluma roadway was arrested Saturday.

The man is suspected of trying to force his way into the vehicle near South McDowell Boulevard and McKenzie Avenue at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, according to Petaluma police.

The man, David Bowen Farwell, 39, tried to enter an occupied vehicle that was stopped in traffic in what appeared to be an effort to steal it, according to the Petaluma Police Department. He was unable to get into the car.

Farwell, who was on parole for a prior assault with a deadly weapon, was under the influence of a controlled substance, police said in a news release.

Police arrested Farwell and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of attempted carjacking, violation of post-release community supervision, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

No injuries were reported, police said.
