Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Brief Police Pursuit In Petaluma

PETALUMA, CA — A 30-year-old Petaluma man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after leading officers on a brief pursuit late Thursday, police said.

An officer spotted Frank Jordan Garcia allegedly driving at an extremely high speed eastbound on East Washington Street near the Highway 101 overpass at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Garcia failed to stop for the officer's emergency lights and sirens, continued traveling at nearly twice the posted speed limit, and ran a red light at East Washington Street and Maria Drive.

Officers pursued Garcia for just under a mile before he stopped near Maria Drive and Lauren Drive.

He was taken into custody without incident after reaching speeds of about 70 mph during the pursuit, police said.

Authorities said Garcia showed signs of alcohol impairment while speaking with officers.
