Target Construction Starts This Week

Slated to open July, 2013

Monday is the first official day of construction of the Target shopping center at East Washington and Kenilworth Drive, a development that will likely include a Sprout's gourmet grocery store, a TJ Maxx, a sporting good store and offices.

The shopping center is set to open next summer and will create approximately 380 construction jobs and 720 permanent jobs, according to Regency Centers, the Jacksonville, Flor. developer behind the project.

In 2004, Regency Centers purchased the land occupied by Kenilworth Junior High School, which used the funds to relocate and construct a new school facility. Regency also partnered with the Petaluma National Little League and Petaluma City School District to relocate and construct new baseball fields located at Petaluma Junior High School that will open for the Spring 2012 season.

As part of the development, Regency will revamp the parking around the Swim Center, install solar panels on the building and construct a snack shack. The poll will remain at the site.

Target, the lead tenant, is holding two job fairs at the end of 2012, but is already accepting applications for its newest location. For more info, click here.
