Four local groups recognized for donations for July 4th celebration

The show must go on.
The fireworks, that is. For the last several years, Petaluma Parks and Rec department has struggled to come up with funds for the July 4th fireworks. Monday night, three Petaluma companies and a local organization were honored for donating a total of $31,000 to the city to make sure that the show could continue.
The donors include , which donated $15,000, , which donated $6,000, and Jericho Products and the Kiwanis, which gave $5,000 each.

“We know that the July 4th celebration is one of the great events that we have each year and it takes a lot of effort to raise the funds," said Mark Ferguson, a member of Petaluma Kiwanis. "And it comes down to the wire to make it work.”
The fireworks will be held at the . Gates open at 4pm and attendance is $2 per person.

“We couldn’t do it without the donors, big and small,” said Jan Mandrell, director of Petaluma’s Parks and Recreation Department.
