The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the USDA today closed Petaluma Poultry for a few hours after plant inspectors found a “sanitary violation” of the facility’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plan, according to a spokesperson.
“As a result, FSIS issued an immediate Withholding Action – temporarily withholding the mark of inspection from products,” said Julie Schwartz, public affairs specialist for the agency. ”Within a few hours the issue had been cleared, and the establishment was allowed to continue operations.”
Schwartz did not elaborate on the nature of the “sanitary violation.”
