Victim of Glen Ellen Excavation Accident Identified

The 23 year old was employed by a pool company in Monday's tragic incident.

A Santa Rosa man died while operating an excavator Monday afternoon when the vehicle rolled on top of him on private property in the Glen Ellen area of Sonoma County, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. in the 13700 block of Garric Avenue off Arnold Drive near Sonoma Valley Regional Park.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Cody McBride, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Cecile Focha. McBride was an employee of A+ Pool and Spa, and he was working at the time of his death.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the incident, according to Focha, and the State Department of Industrial Relations will determine whether or not there were violations of industry regulations, policies or procedures.
