WATCH: Petaluma Police Cars Now Equipped With Hi-Lo Sirens
Here's how the new hi-lo emergency sirens sound.
PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Police Department produced a brief video this week to ensure community members are familiar with the sound of "hi-lo" emergency sirens, which have been installed in Petaluma police cars.
"During natural disasters or evacuations, our PPD vehicles will emit the two-tone sound to indicate to the community that it is 'time to go,'" police said.
When an emergency hits and the sirens are sounded, police said instructions about what to do will be sent out as Nixle alerts from the Petaluma Police Department. Police said up-to-date information will also be posted to the Petaluma Police Department Facebook page.
