Woman, 19, Arrested For Multiple-Injury, Suspected DUI Crash In Petaluma

BREAKING: In the accident: a Windsor resident, who sustained a head trauma; and a Santa Rosa man, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Santa Rosa woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash that seriously injured two passengers in her vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Yessenia Gomez, 19, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic north on U.S. Highway 101 just north of Corona Road in Petaluma around 7:30 p.m., CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

Gomez lost control of the Honda and ran off the east side of the highway. The Honda overturned at least once and landed on its wheels facing west in the northbound No. 2 lane, Sloat said.

The back seat passenger, an 18-year-old Santa Rosa man, was ejected out of the rear window of the vehicle and suffered multiple life-threatening injuries, according to Sloat.

A 16-year-old Windsor resident who was the right front passenger suffered a head injury and Gomez suffered minor injuries.

All three were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Gomez was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
