A 61-year-old Richmond woman was arrested after leading police on a chase through Sonoma, Marin and Contra Costa counties.
PETALUMA, CA — A 61-year-old Richmond woman was arrested early Saturday morning after evading police during an attempted traffic stop and leading them on a pursuit through Sonoma, Marin and Contra Costa counties.
Sgt. Ryan Suhrke, a Petaluma police spokesperson, said an officer attempted to stop the woman, whose vehicle had received a number of traffic violations, on East Washington Street near the Highway 101 overpass at about 3:09 a.m. Saturday. Instead of pulling over, the woman entered the freeway and continued southbound.
Suhrke said the woman failed to stop for the officer and a pursuit was initiated. Petaluma police officers pursued the vehicle into Marin County, suspecting the woman may have been driving under the influence.

The pursuit reached speeds of between 60 and 80 miles per hour. At one point, the vehicle stopped briefly, and the woman yelled at the officers. She then continued southbound on Highway 101.
Suhrke said the pursuit ended just south of the Highway 37 exit from Highway 101. The California Highway Patrol located the vehicle and picked up the pursuit until the woman stopped in Richmond.
Jung Won, of Richmond, was detained by CHP officers until a Petaluma police officer could arrive on scene. It was determined that Won was not impaired while driving. She was arrested for evading a police officer and transported to the Sonoma County Jail in Santa Rosa, where she was booked.
