Wrong-Way Crash Injures Driver, Dog At Lakeville Street Intersection
A driver is suspected of bypassing a road closure, hitting another car, and injuring the driver and a dog.
PETALUMA, CA — A 59-year-old Sonoma man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics after traveling the wrong way around a roadway closure, crashing into another vehicle Monday night, and sending one person to the hospital, authorities said. A dog was also injured.
Police responded at about 8:32 p.m. on Monday to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of Lakeville Street and Pine View Way. The driver, later identified as Vincent Schrader, drove in the wrong direction around a concrete barrier set up for a roadway closure and collided with another vehicle.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, a DUI investigation led to Schrader’s arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics, causing injury and driving the wrong way on a divided roadway.

Police found two dogs in Schrader’s vehicle. One was injured and transported by North Bay Animal Shelter for evaluation. Schrader was taken into custody and taken to the Sonoma County jail.
The other driver was taken to a local hospital to treat minor injuries.
