4 Arrested In Oakland Carjacking

The charges stem from a carjacking at gunpoint reported at about 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 22, police said.

OAKLAND, CA -- Four Oakland men have been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with various counts related to a recent armed carjacking in the 2100 block of 105th Avenue in Oakland, police said today.

The charges stem from a carjacking at gunpoint reported at about 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 22, police said. The next day, at about 1:30 p.m., Oakland officers spotted the carjacked vehicle in the 1200 block of 79th Avenue.

When Oakland officers approached the vehicle, four men inside fled on foot in separate directions. Officers set up a perimeter, searched yards and enlisted the help of the department's helicopter crew, and eventually arrested all four men.

Javonte Nelson, 23, Oakland, was charged by the district attorney's office with carjacking, robbery, and firearms counts. John Downs, 23, faces carjacking, robbery, various firearms charges including being a
felon in possession of a firearm, and a parole violation; Gene Mann, 18, faces various firearms charges including felon in possession of a firearm, and a probation violation; and Demaria Adger, 23, was charged with various firearms crimes, including felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
